Call for panels and papers


We are pleased to announce the call for papers and panels for the upcoming 18th Annual Conference of the Serbian Political Science Association (SPSA). Upon reflecting on the exceptionally large number of elections to be held worldwide this year, the overall theme of theconference is “Super Election Year 2024.”

The general conference section features original research on all topics related to political science, political theory, political economy, media studies and international relations. The conference features research on Serbia, the region, or research with a comparative agenda, including country studies. This section will include a roundtable of the Balkan Political Science Association, with representatives of country associations and the theme “Post-Yugoslavia”.

Proposals can be sent in English, or in the regional languages. There is no conference fee for participants.

The conference will feature two keynote addresses:

Paper and panel proposals

We are interested in receiving both paper and/or panel proposal (in word or pdf format). Deadline for submissions is July 1, 2024. Please send your submissions to politicke.nauke.srbije@gmail.com, and include “Super Election Year 2024” in the reference line.

Paper proposals should include the proposal (title of the paper, abstract up to 250 words, and 4-5 keywords), and a short bio of author(s) (up to 150 words, including position held, academic background, and contact details).

Panel proposal should be submitted by a prospective panel chair, and must include a panel title, a short description of the panel (up to 100 words), three or four paper proposals which should be presented, and a panel discussant. Additionally, short bios of all panel participants should be included (up to 150 words). Panel proposal should be submitted in a single file. Please note that no author should be listed on more than one paper within the same panel.

All applicants will be notified on the status of their submissions by July 15, 2024.

If your proposal is accepted, we kindly request that you submit a draft paper by October 15, 2024. The paper should adhere to the typical length of a journal article and will be circulated among the panel participants.


Special call for the conference section
“Elections, Political Parties, Representation, and Ideologies”

We are pleased to inform you that 2024 Annual SPSA Conference will feature a special section on “Elections, Political Parties, Representation, and Ideologies”, exclusively in English. Paper proposals may be submitted for one of the following panels, or for the special section. We also welcome full panel proposals for this conference section. Papers in this section must be submitted in English, to politicke.nauke.srbije@gmail.com, including “Super Election Year 2024 special section” in the reference line.
