With this lecture, Dr Maja Vasiljević reveals and opens for discussion the issue of applying the biopolitical strategy of interpretation in political science. From the rich and controversial political, philosophical and philological "biopolitical" literature, Vasiljević focuses on the discourses of Michel Foucault, Giorgio Agamben and Roberto Esposito in this lecture. After the key features of "biopolitics" as defined by the aforementioned authors, the lecture focuses on concrete examples. Nazism, as a kind of climax or turning point, but also an example of "biopolitics", stands out as significant both for the study of historical metamorphoses of European societies and for understanding contemporary ones. Finally, Maja Vasiljević will include contemporary concepts, such as "bio populism" and open a discussion about its application.
