DESCRIPTION:

Students will be informed about the basic role of media in a democratic society and legal standards of the freedom of expression protection. Particular attention will be given to the rules for resolving the conflict of freedom of expression and other human / civil rights and freedoms, ie personal rights such as privacy, reputation, honor, right to own image, etc. Rules of the journalist profession, case law of the European Court of Human Rights, Croatian legislation and case law will be compared.

Every legal rule and the rule of the journalist profession are based on common sense and logic. Accordingly, awareness of possible controversial issues and thinking about the desirable solution are key assumptions of responsible journalism.
