DESCRIPTION:

The objective of this course is to acquaint students with the methods of investigative journalism in the contemporary digital media environment. Through practical written/multimedia/television work (according to personal preference) on a proposed topic, students will engage in the investigative process, acquiring techniques for collecting and critically analyzing data and information from diverse sources. They will verify the accuracy and authenticity of these data and information, adhering to ethical rules and recommendations. Students will develop skills in identifying topics of public interest, particularly socially undesirable phenomena such as information cover-ups, corruption, and discrimination. They will utilize legal opportunities regarding the right to access information, become familiar with significant open databases, and grasp the basics of using and processing open data. In addition to familiarizing themselves with key digital tools, participants will gain fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity in journalistic work, including techniques for ensuring anonymity online, preserving source identity, using encrypted communication with sources, and protecting accounts and profiles on internet services.
